De zoektocht naar optimale loondoorbetaling bij ziekte

Werkgevers kregen in de afgelopen twintig jaar met steeds meer prikkels te maken gericht op het verlagen van ziekteverzuim en instroom in de arbeidsongeschiktheidsregelingen. De beoogde versterking van de positie en re-integratie van (zieke) werknemers wordt echter ondergraven als de werkgever reageert met risicoselectie en het overschakelen op meer flexibele arbeid. In dit artikel gaan we na of er tussen deze twee tegengestelde krachten een punt is te vinden waar enerzijds de positieve, gewenste effecten maximaal zijn en de negatieve, ongewenste effecten zo beperkt mogelijk blijven. We concluderen dat het wellicht tijd wordt om positieve prikkels te overwegen: niet de vervuiler betaalt maar de schoonmaker wordt beloond.
